Help Ron and Mandy Kick Cancer to the Curb!

Hello friends and family,

Thank you for taking few minutes to read this post. Many of you may not have heard, but our son-in-law, Ron Burnum, was diagnosed with oropharyngeal metastatic cancer in late July 2021. He found a lump on his neck and went to get it checked out. After a surgical biopsy, it was determined that the cancer was contained to one tonsil with other major organs clear. However, the test results also revealed another life-threatening problem - an aortic aneurysm, which required immediate surgery which occurred on August 16, 2021. The aortic aneurysm surgery was successful! Since then Ron has also undergone a tonsillectomy and is preparing for a series of weekly radiation and chemotherapy treatments for the next few months. As you can imagine, we are both extraordinarily grateful for finding both the cancer and aneurysm in time to fight them, but it is going to be a long journey back to health for Ron.

His wife, Mandy, has battled rheumatoid arthritis for the better part of her life. The stress of Ron's diagnosis has had a significant impact on her health too. Rheumatoid arthritis is notorious for flaring up during periods of stress. All this to say, this beautiful and loving couple could use some assistance as they fight their way through these obstacles. We ask you to keep them in your prayers and if you have it in your heart to contribute some financial assistance, our family would be forever grateful. All funds collected through this fundraiser will be used to help pay medical co-pays and bills, as well as help them maintain their monthly financial commitments like rent, groceries, and utilities. Ron and Mandy will be traveling between Ruidoso (their hometown) and Albuquerque (doctor visits, procedures, etc).

If you know Ron and Mandy, I'm sure they've put a smile on your face with their genuine kindness and funny personalities and if you don't know them, I hope you have the chance to meet them in the near future.
