my name is Ron and last year I was in a coma This led to my wife, Jade, and I to lose both of our jobs and we got evicted. since then we’ve been living in our car. We both have multiple disabilities and struggle to maintain any quality of life while living in a hot car. our journey started in St Louis but had to be moved to NYC due to immense transphobia and my ex still continuing to attempt to end our lives.

I was recently hospitalized for mold poisoning from living in the car due to having a condition called MCAS where my body has imminent anaphylactic reactions to its environment. My wife has been my rock through this and it would be impossible to make it through this without her. After the coma, I had to learn how to walk again and am still struggling with my mobility and am getting stronger each day to get to a place where I can work again. we are doing the best we can but still go hungry most days. Because of Ron’s MCAS, they have a lot of different food allergies as well and struggle to be able to eat a lot of food at food pantries.

Our car window is shattered and we need to repair it to get in state plates. We also need to get the mold under control and make this home habitable. once it is habitable, getting out of this situation will get closer by the day. before this I ran a nonprofit helping trans people feel safe in their community and fed and seen and provided an extensive list of community services and I aim to be a steward to my community and with everything going on, my community needs me now more than ever. Help me so I can help others.

these funds will be used towards:

✨ensuring the vehicle is mold free

✨paying for the storage unit to keep our stuff safe until we are ready for it

✨keeping us fed and clean

✨fixing the windshield and getting in state plates

✨transit costs to getting to and from appointments with both doctors and a case worker

✨paying for Ron’s medication

✨new insulation for the car for the upcoming heat as well as fans and cool packs

✨catch up on laundry to ensure a sterile environment to minimize the chance of another infection or anaphylaxis

✨a trip to Oklahoma to get Jade an updated license on grayhound and then a ride to St Louis to acquire the stuff from our storage unit

✨storage and organization to ease the burden of living in the car

✨eventually, first and last months rent
