Please help Ron Aldridge Rebuild his Life -  Please share this with as many people as possible.

Let us introduce ourselves. We are Ron’s daughters, Joanne and Linda.

Ron has had a good life, a Father, Grandfather, an accomplished businessman and a very good friend.  He has touched many around the world.  Coming to Canada in the 50’s from England, he represented Canada in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, captaining Canada's first field hockey team, was a huge squash enthusiast, and has spent the past 20 years of his life volunteering as a driver for the Canadian Cancer Association. He was also very involved in the international cricket community and played a pivotal role in the coordination of the Sahara Cup and DMC Cup tournaments here in Canada.

Then everything changed…

Ron's simple trip to the drycleaners, ended up tearing his life out from beneath him.

Parking out back, Ron went in from the bright sunlight proceeding through a door he thought went into the cleaners. Unfortunately, without realizing it, he had opened the basement door and had a devasting fall, down 15 stairs to the concrete floor.  He was rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital, suffering from a fractured shoulder, torn rotator cuff, broken ribs, a brain bleed, vascular tears in his neck, severe bruises and contusions.

Quite miraculously, after 2 months in the hospital, he has been able to recover mentally and has been working very hard to build back his strength.    Now, due to covid, he must leave the rehab facility:  Ron is an 87 year old, left with no home, minimal savings, and nowhere to go.

Ron has dealt with an enormous number of set- backs since his fall, he has lost his license, his independence, and his physical ability. However, perhaps the most devastating was that his partner of 21 years requested he not come back home and has chosen to leave him without any financial or emotional support.

His injuries have caused ongoing dizziness so he cannot perform the basic functions of daily life without the high risk of falling. We are desperate to help him, but do not have the financial wherewithal to provide him with the long term care that he will require.

It is extremely hard to have to do this, as our Dad has an enormous amount of pride.  We are asking for all, and especially Ron’s friends, both recent and from years gone by, to assist in our fundraising efforts.

Our goal is to raise enough funds to allow him to retire with the dignity he deserves, and the care he needs, in a retirement home within his community.   If there is any way you can help us to do that, it would be greatly appreciated and forever in our hearts.

Thank you
