I’m Romeo Loya (Mori), a Mexican/Chicano artist from Muleshoe, Texas, raised by a single mom. Everything I have, I’ve worked for.
Right now I’m balancing school and work, living paycheck to paycheck, trying to hold onto something bigger than survival. I don’t come from money, and I’m not used to asking for help—but this opportunity is different. I can’t let it pass me by.
I’ve been given the chance to study abroad, and for me, that’s not just travel—it’s growth, exposure, and a chance to evolve as an artist and as a person. I’ve spent years building my style through punk, metal, skate culture, and my Mexican roots. But I’ve never had the chance to step outside my environment and create from a completely new perspective.
This program focuses on onsite drawing—capturing real places, real people, real moments. That’s exactly the kind of work I want to push myself into. I want to feel something new and put it into my art.
The reality is, I can’t afford this on my own.
The money raised will go directly toward:
• Tuition for the program
• Travel expenses
• Housing while abroad
Every dollar gets me closer to actually making this happen.
To give back, I’ll be creating original drawings and mini prints for donors, and I’ll be documenting the entire experience through videos so you can see exactly what your support made possible.
If you can donate, it means everything to me.
If you can’t, sharing this helps more than you think.
This isn’t just a trip—it’s a turning point in my life and my art.
