I’m Romeo Loya (Mori), a Mexican/Chicano artist from Muleshoe, Texas, raised by a single mom. Everything I have, I’ve worked for. Right now I’m balancing school and work, living paycheck to paycheck, trying to hold onto something bigger than survival. I don’t come from money, and I’m not used to asking for help—but this opportunity is different. I can’t let it pass me by. I’ve been given the chance to study abroad, and for me, that’s not just travel—it’s growth, exposure, and a chance to evolve as an artist and as a person. I’ve spent years building my style through punk, metal, skate culture, and my Mexican roots. But I’ve never had the chance to step outside my environment and create from a completely new perspective. This program focuses on onsite drawing—capturing real places, real people, real moments. That’s exactly the kind of work I want to push myself into. I want to feel something new and put it into my art. The reality is, I can’t afford this on my own. The money raised will go directly toward: • Tuition for the program • Travel expenses • Housing while abroad Every dollar gets me closer to actually making this happen.
