I am raising funds for my dog, Romeo, who is about to turn 1 year old on April 1st. Romeo is a beautiful soul with playful energy and a warm spirit that is contagious. He loves playing, loves people, and loves other dogs. Since Thursday night, Romeo has been in emergency care, and this has been one of the hardest experiences I have ever faced. The onset came out of nowhere, and he became critically sick very quickly. Watching him go through so much at such a young age has been heartbreaking, but I am doing everything I can to help him keep fighting.

Romeo’s condition is serious and still not fully understood. He has been running a fever since Thursday, his liver is compromised, and he is unable to move normally due to severe muscle weakness and possible paralysis. The specialists caring for him have said his situation is rare, which is making a diagnosis difficult and requiring even more testing to understand what is wrong. So far, Romeo has received intravenous fluids, a catheter, antibiotics, and other medications. He has also undergone an ultrasound, blood tests, urine tests, and a blood plasma infusion. His care has involved emergency, neurology, internal medicine, infectious disease, and ICU teams, and the costs of keeping him hospitalized and continuing this level of treatment are adding up quickly.
