My name is Artur Kulej, and I live in the United Kingdom. I am organising this personal medical fundraiser for my friend Roman Kvitko, who lives in Smila, Cherkasy Oblast, Ukraine.
In July 2025, Roman was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident. He suffered multiple serious injuries, including major pelvic trauma, and underwent several operations followed by rehabilitation.
Roman now needs an independent specialist assessment of his previous pelvic fixation and a clear medical plan for the next stage of his treatment and rehabilitation.
At this stage, we are still establishing the exact medical situation. We do not yet know whether further surgery will be required, what treatment specialists will ultimately recommend, or what the final cost will be.
Those decisions must be made by qualified medical specialists after reviewing Roman’s medical records, imaging and current condition.
We are currently working to obtain:
- an independent specialist assessment;
- a written medical opinion;
- a clear treatment and rehabilitation plan;
- confirmation of what treatment may be covered by the Ukrainian public healthcare system;
- formal quotations for necessary medical treatment, materials, rehabilitation and related costs that are not covered.
This is a personal medical fundraiser for Roman Kvitko. It is not a military fundraiser, political fundraiser or general Ukraine-relief fundraiser.
How the money will be used
Funds raised will be used only for Roman’s documented medical treatment, rehabilitation and recovery needs.
Depending on the treatment plan provided by his doctors, this may include:
- specialist consultations and assessments;
- medical imaging and investigations recommended by doctors;
- treatment or procedures not covered by the public healthcare system;
- necessary medical materials, devices or medicines;
- rehabilitation and physiotherapy;
- mobility and rehabilitation equipment;
- medically necessary transport;
- other documented expenses directly connected with Roman’s treatment and recovery.
We will not invent treatment requirements or costs.
The exact treatment Roman needs, whether another operation is required and the final cost will only be confirmed when we receive written information from qualified medical specialists and providers.
Why I am organising the fundraiser from the United Kingdom
Roman currently does not have practical access to his personal bank accounts, which makes it difficult for him to receive and manage fundraiser proceeds directly.
For this reason, I am organising this fundraiser from the United Kingdom.
I, Artur Kulej, will receive GoFundMe withdrawals into my verified personal UK bank account.
Roman Kvitko is the sole intended beneficiary of this personal medical fundraiser.
Wherever reasonably possible, I will make documented payments directly to verified hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centres or other medical providers, supported by invoices, quotations or written treatment costs.
If direct payment to a medical provider is not practical, funds may be transferred to Roman through an appropriate documented route for verified medical, rehabilitation or medically necessary related expenses.
I will maintain records of:
- GoFundMe withdrawals;
- transfers;
- invoices and quotations;
- payments to hospitals and clinics;
- rehabilitation expenses;
- other documented medical expenditure.
No fundraiser money will be sent to any individual, business or medical provider until the intended medical expense or recipient has been verified and documented.
This is intended to make the use of the fundraiser as transparent and accountable as possible.
Where the funds may be used
Roman lives in Smila, Cherkasy Oblast, Ukraine.
The current medical pathway we are pursuing includes assessment and possible treatment through verified medical providers in:
- Cherkasy, Ukraine
- Kyiv, Ukraine
The final location of treatment will depend on the recommendations of qualified specialists and which verified provider is able to provide the required care.
If specialists recommend treatment or rehabilitation in another city or country, I will update the fundraiser transparently before directing funds there.
No money raised through this fundraiser will be used for military, political or general humanitarian purposes.
The fundraising target
The current £10,000 goal is an initial fundraising target while Roman’s exact treatment requirements, public healthcare coverage and formal medical costs are still being established.
It is not a hospital quotation and should not be interpreted as the confirmed cost of an operation or treatment.
As we receive:
- specialist opinions;
- written treatment plans;
- confirmation of healthcare coverage;
- hospital quotations;
- rehabilitation costs;
I will update the fundraiser with verified information and adjust the fundraising target if necessary.
Roman’s consent
Roman has given me written consent to organise fundraising for his medical treatment and rehabilitation.
He has also given permission for selected medical information, documents and photographs to be used for fundraising purposes after private and personal information has been appropriately protected.
Full original medical records, identity documents, banking information and other sensitive information will remain private.
Only selected and appropriately redacted supporting evidence will be published.
Why we are asking for help
Roman has already been through a great deal since his accident.
Our immediate goal is to help him obtain the specialist assessment needed to establish exactly what treatment and rehabilitation he requires.
We are deliberately avoiding unsupported claims about surgery, urgency or treatment costs until qualified specialists provide those answers.
As medical opinions, treatment recommendations, confirmed costs and other significant developments become available, I will publish updates to this fundraiser.
Every contribution, regardless of the amount, helps us move closer to getting Roman the medical care and rehabilitation he needs.
If you cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser can also make a major difference.
Thank you for supporting Roman.
