Help Roman get his family from Ukraine to Canada

Hello Friends,

 

Roman has been my career advisor, mentor, and friend since I started working with him in 2019. He has always been there for me whether I needed help understanding a technical problem, a path forward regarding a complex client or personal issue, or anything in between. So, when I found out about his and his family's situation caused by the war in Ukraine, I felt compelled to help, and I think other would as well. Together with Roman's other advisee Michael Tassone, we decided to create this campaign to try and assist Roman and his family financially in this difficult time.

Here is a note from Roman about his families situation:

 

My name is Roman Nimchenko. I immigrated to Canada from Ukraine 12 years ago. My parents, brother, niece, and nephew have recently had to abandon their home, where they lived their entire lives. My hometown of Nova Kakhovka, Kherson region in the South of Ukraine was occupied by Russian forces within the first 24 hours of the invasion. My family lived under Russian occupation for six weeks before they made the tough decision to seek safety in the Ukrainian-controlled area of the country. They traveled the route riddled with enemy blockades, and after two days made it to relative safety in Western Ukraine where they found refuge for the past couple of weeks. However, they still listen to sirens of air raids every few days, so I am trying to bring them to stay with me in Canada until we figure out what to do next.

 

We are not financially prepared for this, especially since my wife and I just had a baby last year. I am trying to collect funds to help me cover the cost of flight tickets for my family to come to Canada. My parents are not in the best of health and cannot handle multiple connecting flights, so I am limited to direct or one-hop flights. I appreciate your support.
