Supporting My Wife Rolene in Her Fight Against ALS

My name is Marshall and I have been married for fifty-eight years to the love of my life, Rolene, who has recently been diagnosed with ALS.

ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Over time, it causes the loss of muscle control, making it increasingly difficult to walk, speak, eat, and eventually breathe. There is currently no cure for this disease.

For 40 years, Rolene devoted her heart and soul to being a preschool teacher. She shaped countless young lives with patience, kindness, and love, and she treated every child as if they were her own. Beyond her career, she is a devoted mother and a proud grandmother, roles that mean everything to her and to our family.

Rolene now needs our help and support. As a family, we are doing everything we possibly can to manage this financial burden ourselves. However, ALS requires full-time specialized care, medical equipment, home modifications, and constant support. Costs add up quickly. Costs can be up to six figures a year, especially with the need for professional twenty-four-hour caregivers who are not covered by insurance.

This fundraiser is something I don’t find easy to do, but I am asking for your support so that my wife can receive the care, comfort, and dignity she deserves as she navigates through this incredibly difficult journey which becomes more and more difficult as the days and time move on.

Any amount, no matter the size, will go directly toward Rolene’s medical expenses, caregiving support, and daily needs that come with full-time ALS care.
