Help Roland Rio Relocate and Receive Medical Care

This GoFundMe is being set up out of desperation to provide Roland Rio aid in relocating, and receiving medical care, after a series of unexpected, and unavoidable, life events has left him unable to continue living independently. Over the past two years Roland has experienced the loss of his father, his home being irreparably damaged in the 2024 hurricanes that devastated his community, and is now faced with the reality that his diminishing health is due to a degenerative health condition that could leave him permanently disabled. The result of all of this culminated in Roland ending up essentially without a sustainable living situation and in need of assisted care.

For the last two years Roland has been unknowingly living with this medical condition while simultaneously dealing with a dangerous electrical issue and lack of running water in his home caused by the 2024 hurricanes in Florida.

Roland's mental and physical health has been declining slowly for the past two years. After months of tests and CT scans we now know that, aside from diabetes and a recent dimensia diagnosis, Roland has a condition called NP Hydrocephalus. NP Hydrocephalus is a serious condition that affects children and adults and can cause severe disability and even death. In basic terms he has spinal fluid building up on the brain which is causing; memory loss, confusion, loss of balance, loss of coordination, and speech issues. There is no cure for NPH, but there is an expensive and painful treatment that can slow the progression of symptoms in patients diagnosed early enough. Roland's doctors have determined that he is no longer able to drive or live independently. With no where else to go Roland is forced to box up what little he can and relocate to Central Pennsylvania to live under the care of his daughter Danielle and her family. Regrettably due to the damaged condition of his home, Roland is unable to sell it, and is left with nothing but the few boxes he can afford to take with him to Pennsylvania.

The goal of this GoFundMe is to aid Roland with the expense of relocating, to provide him with the ability to buy clothing and other essential items he's been forced to leave behind, to provide the necessary accommodations required in his new home, and to provide necessary medical care as he navigates enrolling in a whole new Healthcare system in PA.
