We Want to Work and Live in Peace
My name is Rola Abu Aziza. I am Palestinian woman living with my family in Gaza Strip. I am a graduate with a BA in general nursing and my husband is anesthesia technician program graduate. We have two children ages six and two.
We always hoped to find jobs in our field of specialization. For me, I love the nursing profession very much, but unfortunately, I haven't been able to secure a permanent position. The situation in Gaza is very bad. In fact, the life in Gaza became bad even before the war! There are thousands of graduates and the number is increasing every year, making it impossible to find work! There are simply no jobs available in Gaza, and on top of that, we live under constant siege and threat of war, so we are not able to leave Gaza whenever we want! The occupation has confined us on all sides—by land and by sea. We have no electricity in the day time. We live in the dark! We have only 4 hours of electricity the evening , between 2am 6am.
People go to the sea with their children to breathe the air and to swim, but because of the electricity cut, the municipality drains sewage into the sea making it unswimmable.
The last war in May 2021 has been one of the most terrifying wars we have ever experienced. We were surrounded by death and destruction. Thousands of people’s work places are destroyed completely by the Israeli missiles! Our children are still scared to go to the bathroom alone or sleep in another room! While a ceasefire has been reached, our anxiety and stress are not lifted. This war will return again and we don't know when! We are afraid we won’t survive the next one. I feel so tired from what happened and what is still happening.
I want to be able to leave Gaza with my children and husband, but our financial situation does not allow us, and we have yet to obtain passports! I want my family to like people in other countries. I so desperately want peace for my family. I want to work to support my family and This decision is very difficult because it means leaving our extended family, country, and friends, but we desperately want to live in peace.
Please help me raise the funds to pay for travel costs and administration expenses so we can live in a better environment and have a better life.
