Help Roksy Walk Again — Her Brace Is Already Being Made ❤️

Roksy’s custom orthotic brace is officially in production — but we still need help covering the remaining balance before her fittings and physical therapy begin.

Eight weeks ago, we were told she might eventually lose the use of her leg. Surgery carried serious risks, including the possibility of amputation if complications occurred.

Then we found another option.

A custom-made orthotic device that could stabilize her leg, protect her joints, compensate for the 4cm difference in her limb length, and help her walk normally again — without risking the loss of her leg.

For the first time in weeks, we finally feel hope again.

But to explain why this matters so much to us, I need to tell you who Roksy is.

Roksy didn’t have an easy start in life.

I rescued her from a breeder who was cruel to her animals. To this day, Roksy panics at the sight of a dog bowl — she refuses to eat from one. A broom handle still sends her trembling in fear. We may never know exactly what happened to her before she came home to us, but her body remembers.

At just 6–8 weeks old, she arrived into our family shortly before Christmas 2023. My daughter still believed in Santa Claus that year, and she was completely convinced Santa himself had brought her this golden, curly-haired little puppy.

Roksy instantly became family.

She sleeps beside me every night, curled up close like the little daughter she truly is to me. Every morning we walked together near the lighthouse in Palos Verdes, the ocean wind moving through her fur while her tail never stopped wagging.

For two beautiful years, she was pure joy.

Then, about eight weeks ago, everything changed.

During one of our walks, a ball suddenly rolled into traffic. Roksy instinctively ran toward it. I grabbed her leash just in time and pulled her away from the cars. On the way back to the sidewalk, she clipped a traffic sign post. At first, she seemed completely fine. She walked home normally.

But thirty minutes later, she could barely walk.

At first, the vet believed it was only inflammation. But ten days later, things became worse. X-rays and specialist evaluations revealed something devastating:

Roksy has a severe bone deformity in her rear leg. Her limb is approximately 4 centimeters shorter than the other, and her femoral head is visibly displaced. One specialist told us it was a miracle she was still walking at all.

Then came another heartbreaking blow:

Her insurance refused to cover treatment, calling it a “pre-existing birth defect.”

When we first began this journey, surgery seemed like the only option — with estimates between $8,000 and $12,500.

But after consulting with specialist Mark Rodriguez at EmBracing Paws in Duarte, California, we learned that surgery for Roksy’s condition carries major risks, including the possibility of losing her leg if complications occur.

We could not take that risk.

The orthotic path became the safest and most hopeful solution.

The custom Tarsus Brace being built for Roksy is specifically molded to her body and designed to stabilize her leg, reduce pain, prevent further joint damage, and give her the ability to walk, run, and enjoy life again.

The mold has already been taken.
Production has officially started.

And thanks to this solution, our original goal dropped dramatically from $8,000+ to just $2,000 total to cover:
• her custom orthotic device
• fitting adjustments
• rehabilitation and physical therapy

So far, we have raised $770 thanks to the incredible kindness of friends, family, and animal lovers from around the world.

We are unbelievably grateful.

Now we are trying to make one final push to get Roksy across the finish line.

She already survived one painful beginning in life.
Now we’re trying to give her the future she deserves.

If you are able to help — even a small donation truly makes a difference.

And if you cannot donate, sharing Roksy’s story would mean the world to us.

Help Roksy walk again ❤️

With all our gratitude,

Hector, Roksy, and our family
