Help Roksolana & Finn Rebuild After Fire

We are working things out with our landlord and having a fundraiser this weekend to help us rebuild as well as give part of proceeds raised to help Ukraine during this difficult time. Our landlord is supportive of this effort and we are grateful for finding a common ground and ☮️

Last June, my son and I were made homeless due to a fire in our home. The immediate separation my son and I experienced was very traumatic for both of us. I made sure my son was safe and encouraged him to stay with his dad while I tried to get us back in our home. Our landlord lied to us for five months about why we couldn’t move back in, as it was really just smoke damage. In addition to the separation of our family, the event was particularly traumatic for me because I was a witness to the 9/11 tragedy and just the smell of smoke brings back a traumatic time in my life where myself as well as many of my friends lost loved ones in the tragedy.

When this first happened, my Ukrainian Plast friends suggested I do this fundraiser. If you know me, you know I’ve worked for many nonprofits and I’m always working to help other people. Three years ago, I went to Poland to help my family. They appreciate what I have done very much, including my refugee cousin in England who offered to send me money. I said, "No, you cannot send me money. You are a refugee." At this point, I really have to swallow my pride and ask for a little help. I I already cashed in my 401k to help my family in Ukraine If you could please help in any way, that would be so much appreciated. I just need to get through this month. I have things in place to keep going forward, but at this point, I need a little help from my friends, and I promise karma and my faith tells me that God will bless you. If there’s any way I can repay you in the future, I certainly will.
