Needed: Urgent Leg Amputation & Chemo

The Unthinkable Diagnosis

My brave, wonderful dog, Rojo, has always been a source of light and unconditional love in my life. He’s more than a pet—he’s family. Recently, our world was shattered when we received the diagnosis no one wants to hear: cancer.

Rojo has been diagnosed with a tumor in his toe that requires urgent medical intervention. The specialists have not seen something like this before as his cells are abnormal. This news is heartbreaking, but we are committed to fighting for him with everything we have.

Our Plan to Save Rojo:

The veterinary specialists have given us a clear, aggressive plan to give Rojo the best chance at a full recovery and a long, happy life.

Life-Saving Surgery: Rojo needs an immediate leg amputation to remove the tumor and prevent the cancer from spreading further. This will happen on the 7th of November, well wishes are welcomed for our boy.

Chemotherapy and Radiation: Following the surgery, he will likely require a joint course of chemotherapy and radiation to ensure any remaining microscopic cancer cells are eliminated.

We know this is a huge step, but the vets are optimistic that this surgery and treatment will be curative. Rojo can adapt beautifully and enjoy many more years of walks, cuddles, and tail wags.

The Financial Challenge:

The estimated cost for the amputation, post-operative care, diagnostics, and potential chemotherapy and radiation is significant, putting a massive strain on our family. With his insurance limit already exceeded due to tests, biopsies, CT scans, etc. Myself and my husband have started paying out of pocket. The total veterinary bills are expected to be in the range of £7,500- £15,000

This goal covers:

Pre-surgical blood work and scans.

The complex amputation surgery.

Post-operative hospitalization and pain management.

The full course of chemotherapy treatments.

Rehabilitation and follow-up appointments.

We are humbly asking for your help to lift this financial burden so we can focus entirely on Rojo’s recovery.

Our Promise and Giving Back:

If, by some miracle, we exceed our goal or if the final costs are lower than anticipated, 100% of any remaining funds will be donated directly to the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) to support their ongoing efforts in treating other animals battling cancer and life-threatening illnesses. This way, Rojo's fight will help save other lives.
