Help Roger fight Cancer

Hi my name is Sam Cook, a long-time friend of Roger Moody Jr. Roger is a strong, proud person, and I am fundraising for him because he would never do this on his own.  In 1996, Roger was diagnosed with a melanoma mass on his chest and had it removed. In November of 2021, he had a large tumor removed from under his right arm. He had surgery in a local hospital where the diagnosis was cancer., stage 3 melanoma that has spread to his lymph nodes. More surgery to remove more lymph nodes in December followed at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. The surgery was very invasive and kept him with a drain in his side for over two months, along with daily shots and medication. He has had to wear a compression sleeve to support the movement of his arm. Roger is continuing his immunotherapy at Dana-Farber, where he will have multiple treatments over many months as chemotherapy and radiation are not options, no cure.

 

Let me tell you about my friend Roger. In 1980, Roger and my younger brother Hugh met in the 10th grade. Our entire family has always embraced him as a family member. We have spent a lot of time together, family vacations and many fishing trips. Roger has also suffered losses that most have not. Anyone who knows Roger knows he is happiest when he is outside, summer or winter, fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking etc. Roger has been self-employed as a painter his entire life. He has built a business solely by word of mouth as an extraordinary painter with an attention to detail and is known to be a happy, kind, down-to-earth, trustworthy, nice guy.

 

Roger has been unable to continue working full-time since this has started. He has incurred medical bills and multiple expenses while traveling back and forth to Boston while living in Maine. We all want to do whatever we can to make this immensely stressful time just a little bit better and less worrisome. Any donation is appreciated and will touch the heart of a very humble deserving man.
