I’m starting this GoFundMe for my friends Rodrigo and Fany.

While they should be focusing on the joy of their newborn baby girl, they’ve been hit with an unexpected and difficult challenge: Rodrigo has recently been diagnosed with Cushing’s Syndrome.

This medical journey involves specialized treatments, potential brain surgery, and significant time away from work. We want to make sure they can focus on Rodrigo’s health and their new daughter, Alana, without the crushing weight of medical bills and living expenses.

Here is a letter from Fany explaining their situation:

Our lives changed overnight.

Just two months ago we welcomed our baby girl, Alana, into the world. What should have been a time of joy quickly turned into a medical crisis.

My husband Rodrigo was hospitalized on February 21, 2026. Doctors discovered he has Cushing’s Syndrome, caused by a tumor in his pituitary gland. We are currently awaiting a neurosurgeon to determine the next steps for treatment.

Because the condition went undiagnosed for so long, the toll on his body has been severe:

• Spinal Fractures: Rodrigo has developed osteoporosis, resulting in multiple fractures in his spine. He now wears a torso brace and lives with constant pain.

• Physical & Mental Toll: He has suffered significant weight loss and severe anxiety episodes due to the hormonal imbalance.

• Medical Isolation: Doctors also found a cavity in his lung, requiring him to be in isolation while testing for further complications.

At the same time, I am still recovering from postpartum while navigating hospital visits and caring for our two-month-old.

The financial uncertainty is heavy. We have started selling items from our garage and are looking to downsize our home just to create some breathing room for the road ahead.
