Help Rodney’s Cancer Battle

Hi there!
I have created this fundraiser to help my uncle, Rodney Wood, with ongoing medical and travel expenses.
At this moment, Rodney is currently recovering from another surgery due to complications after his original diagnosis of esophageal cancer last spring.
Rodney is approaching the year mark of fighting for his life and overcoming these continuing complications. After struggling through several hospitalizations, repairing an esophageal perforation, several weeks of chemo and radiation, and the removal of the massive tumor in September, he will now be facing an additional 3rd surgery on his stomach. Rodney had his first additional surgery on December 21st, second on January 15th. (He received his 3rd surgery April 5th)
After undergoing 3 major surgeries since September, battling a blood clot in his leg (still), with his chemo port in place, hardly eating for almost a year (through a tube at one point), and being extremely underweight as a result, Rodney forced himself to return to work for financial reasons.
For those of you that know him, you know he is a hard worker, never asks for anything from anyone, and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it!
Rodney made it very clear when this all began that he didn’t want people to feel they needed to help him and that he could take care of it himself. Unfortunately it’s not that easy and he couldn’t of done it without the help of family and friends, taking care of him and transporting him back and fourth between Wellsboro, Williamsport, Danville, and Pittsburgh, Pa.
Speaking of Pittsburgh....for anyone who doesn’t know, Rodney is THE #1 fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers!!! He thought they were going to kick him out of the hospital during one of their games because he was making such a ruckus. Rodney eats, sleeps, and lives for the Steelers! He wears nothing but Steelers attire, all day, everyday, no matter if it’s falling apart because he doesn’t have the heart to throw it away. He signs birthday cards - Love, Rodney and the Pittsburgh Steelers! His voice mail is even about the Pittsburgh Steelers, AFC North Champions of the WORLD! Rodney has always worked very hard with little to show for himself because he has such a giving heart. His pride and joy is his Pittsburgh Steelers special edition truck, that might end up being his only saving grace because he can’t keep trying to go back to work to keep up with his medical bills, still piling up.
Against his wishes, I am reaching out to ask you for help! He has declined every thought of local benefits to help raise money for his expenses but he needs it now more than ever, especially needing to realize he can’t go back to work.
Please help support Rodney by donating if you can or sharing this fundraiser as much as possible.
He might never forgive me for doing this but he will appreciate every effort, donation, and all the support he can get through this battle.
For those of you that do know him, please try not to mention this fundraiser to him. For now give him love and support for wellness and recovery! (He can be mad at us when he’s healthy again!)
