Help Rodney Recover After Amputation

Donation protected

2/27 after 30 days at Shore, he finally made it to rehab. Now on to the next phase! yay

2/26 day 29 in the hospital. things seem to be healing well. The physical therapist took Rod outside in a wheelchair so he could breathe in some fresh air and feel the sunshine. it was a great moral booster. still waiting on rehab placement.

2/23 day 26 in the hospital. had a little backslide. developed a fever and found that his blood count was low. had to have three transfusions in 2 days. might have something to

do with the ulcer feeling a little better now.

2/20 today, rod walked with a walker for the first time. walked from the bed to the door and back...about 15 feet each way! before we know it, he'll

be walking out the door.

2/18 today is 3 weeks in the hospital. Waiting for a spit at a rehab place. Did some intense physical therapy in the hospital today. Can't wait til I can move around a little bit.

2/17 did some physical therapy in the morning. practicing standing up then got into a wheelchair for a bit.

2/16 feeling tired today. Hopefully getting discharged aoon so i can get on with physical therapy.

update 2/13: on Thursday, Rodney got fitted for his life vest. he will need to wear it for 3 months so his heart can be monitored. he also spent some time in a wheelchair for the first time and explored the chapel and his floor.

Many of you know Rodney as a friend, dedicated Cowboys fan, and an amazing candy maker. He is always willing to help others...from jumping a bad battery, helping to install an air conditioner, or helping you move. He always gives with a cheerful heart. And we all know his amazing candies...Buttercreams, marshmallows, caramels... They have filled our stomachs and our souls.

Rodney is now facing a serious health issue that has left him fighting, both physically and financially

On Jan. 28, Rodney was admitted for an absess due to diabetic complications on his foot that would not improve. After 2 surgeries to try and save the leg, the doctors had no choice but to amputate which added 2 additional surgeries. Further tests revealed kidney, heart, and stomach issues.

Rodney has been unable to find a job in over a year and has had no income or insurance. At the time of this post...Feb 12, Rodney is still in the hospital. Medical bills are piling up.

Once released, he will need extensive physical therapy and a place to live suitable for his disability.

Times are hard and we know everyone is struggling right now, but even a small donation would be appreciated. If you are unable to help monetarily, you could share this post to pass it as far as possible. Or if you know of a suitable place to live please reach out.

Every donation, whether large or small, will help ease this burden and get Rodney on the road to recovery. Thank you for helping. Rodney appreciates you all immensely.
