For this man...I would give my life. I would give him anything and all I have, as he has done for me! He has given me all his love, a beautiful life, more laughs than I can count, the joy of loving him and getting to be his wife, the joy of watching him be a amazing father to our daughter, Savannah, and the BEST 25 years of my life. Now it's my turn, to give back and give him 25 more (at least)! But, sadly, I'm not a match to donate the kidney that he needs to save his life.
For those that know me, you know how hard it is for me to ask for anything, but I'm asking. My husband, Rodger, was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, IgA nephropathy, and his kidneys are failing. He's 45. He has been approved for a transplant and is on the waiting list, but it can take up to 3 years to get a kidney. With his diagnosis, the goal is to get a kidney before he needs dialysis, which we are quickly approaching. He has completed his pre-transplant testing and Shands UF has started testing our friends and family that have signed up to be potential matches, one at a time. We have medical insurance but the bills are coming in and we pay co-pays for all of his care and all of those being tested, about $1500 each. We have been advised by UF to start a fundraiser, as the bills will continue until we find a match and the cost of surgery and the anti-rejection meds will be hefty. All funds donated will go to the expenses for potential donors, transplant costs, and Rodger's care.
We will graciously accept any help, all the prayers you can send, and I will attach the link for anyone who may be so generous as to be tested for a potential match. Our insurance will cover the testing and medical portion for any donor and we will pay all of the copays. There is also assistance for donors that meet the donation criteria, which I can share.
Please help us get Rodg a kidney, join us in prayer for a match, and please pray for his health while we are in the waiting period. We appreciate you taking the time to read this, for you love, support, and prayers. Please feel free to share our story, we hope to reach as many people as possible to find our match! For this man, we will go to the ends of the earth!
God bless you all
Much love,
