My name is Roddneicka Joseph and I am a 24-year-old from Baton Rouge Louisiana living with cerebral palsy . Due to falling on my back at school in 2016 I was diagnosed with Spastic diplegic cerebral palsy , short gut syndrome , Metabolic acidosis, Acute cystitis with hematuria , Hyponatremia Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuritis and Disease of spinal cord, unspecified Since my accident my mobility has changed significantly, and I now rely on a power wheelchair to get around. Public transportation has become unsafe and unreliable for me, especially since I have no one available to help and the bus stops in my area are barely accessible. Taking my wheelchair out in the rain risks damaging it, and I often find myself unable to travel safely or independently. I am currently trying to raise money for a wheelchair accessible vehicle that can carry my 400lb wheelchair
Having a wheelchair accessible vehicle would be life-changing for me. It would allow me to get to my medical appointments on time, manage daily errands like grocery shopping, and participate more fully in my community. Right now, I can only carry a small amount of groceries on my wheelchair, which is both limiting and unsafe. My family is unable to help, so I am handling all of these challenges on my own.
My hope is that with a wheelchair accessible vehicle, I will be able to regain my independence and tackle daily tasks without fear or uncertainty. Your support will help me move forward and live more freely, without having to worry about how I’ll get where I need to go the money will go towards the full cost of the wheelchair accessible vehicle Thank you for considering my story and for any help you can provide.
