Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

I’m reaching out today with a heavy heart about my beloved 1-year-old German Shepherd, Rocky—my loyal companion and absolute best friend. Rocky has been by my side through thick and thin, bringing joy, protection, and endless tail wags into my life. He’s more than a pet; he’s family.

Last Friday, during what was meant to be a fun car ride on a quiet side road, an unexpected accident happened. In a split second of excitement, Rocky jumped out of the window before I could react. We rushed him to the emergency vet, where X-rays revealed a complete upper fracture in his rear left femur. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, complications have arisen, and the vets have determined that amputation is the necessary step to give him the best chance at a pain-free, happy life moving forward.

As a devoted pet parent, I’ve always prioritized Rocky’s health and well-being, from regular check-ups to plenty of playtime and training. This freak accident has been devastating, and while I’m committed to covering his upcoming surgery and aftercare, the costs are proving to be a significant challenge during this tough time. The procedure, medications, and follow-up rehab are estimated to add up quickly, and we’re doing everything we can to manage it on our own—but any support from our community would mean the world in helping us navigate this hurdle.

Rocky is a fighter with so much life and love left to give. With your generosity, we can focus on his recovery and get him back to zooming around the yard with our kiddos (on three legs!) as the energetic pup he is.
