Originally named Titus, Rocky was beaten and burned by his previous owner before being surrendered to the animal shelter at just 2 years old. Minutes before he was scheduled to be euthanized, a Doberman rescue group stepped in and saved him. With no fosters available, poor Rocky was bounced around several boarding facilities before finally landing with my family to recover from his extra complicated neutering surgery (one of his testicals never descended).
As he was healing, we discovered by accident that he responded to the name 'Rocky'! Although he had a clean bill of health before surgery, Rocky developed a bad cough afterward. We quickly got him on antibiotics, hoping it was just a minor setback. After a week of rest, consistency, and a quiet environment, Rocky seemed to be on the upside of his cough and was ready for his next chapter—a forever home in Oregon. He bravely took a two-day road trip on a school bus from California to Oregon to meet his new family.
Sadly, what we thought was a simple respiratory infection turned out to be a severe bacterial infection in his lungs, leading to pneumonia. Rocky ended up in the ER with a barely functioning right lung and an infected left lung. Despite everything he has endured in his short life, Rocky continues to show quiet companionship and resilience. Now, he needs our help more than ever. I am raising funds to help his forever parents cover the costs of his ER stay, IV fluids, strong antibiotics, testing, and multiple lung x-rays at $450 each.
Anything helps—please consider supporting Rocky's fight for a healthy future. Even a small contribution can make a big difference for this brave dog. Happy to answer any questions.
