My boy and best friend Rocky, who is loved and cherished by many, recently came home limping on his back left leg. After waiting a couple weeks to see if he could recover on his own, I took him to our vet to see if they could diagnose what was going on. Through a costly exam which included radiography, they determined he has a completely torn CCL ligament (equivalent to a ACL in humans). Unfortunately a tear like this will severely affect his mobility and activity level the rest of his life, as well as leaving his other leg predisposed to a CCL rupture.
All of this was very hard for me to stomach considering he has been my best friend for the last 6 years, and has been with me through thick and thin. From the countless adventures we've shared fishing, rafting, backpacking, and exploring the deserts of the southwest. To weathering the trials of life with me, this dog has literally been my rock and has helped me grow and evolve in ways that are unexplainable. In return I've promised him and myself to always strive to give him the best life no matter the cost.
And now my promise is being put to the test. There's a surgery called a TPLO that we can do that has a 95% success rate, and will most likely return him to the level of mobility and activity pre-rupture. This has me extremely hopeful but I was quoted a price of $5400-5800 from a local canine surgeon. As a 23 year old who works 40 hours a week in the restaurant industry while trying to stay afloat in these trying times, this bill will be extremely hard for me to foot alone.
Having a dog is unpredictable and costly! Unfortunately, this CCL rupture happened while I am unable to completely cover the veterinary bills associated with surgery and aftercare. Because of this, I am asking for your help. I know many of you especially my peers may be in the same situation financially but I want to stress no donation is to small and every share on social media counts. Rocky and I will be eternally grateful for any consideration given towards this campaign.
As always Peace and Love <3.
