Help Rocky & Adrienne with vet costs-strays
Donation protected
Please join me in welcoming Rocky and Yo! Adrienne to Great Babie Rescue, a 501c3 non-profit dog rescue . Michelle Moore was able to trap these dogs last night! I am sure her kids will still be calling them Sweet tea and Cocoa though while they are in their house!
They spent their first night in safety in who knows how long? Michelle said they were absolutely exhausted by the time she trapped them last night.
These two dogs were swarmed by flies, covered in fleas, scarred and bruised everywhere. They were most likely dumped out in the country, and probably pushed out the door while the car was still moving. Had the kind neighbor not made the effort to befriend these dogs, and give them food and water, they probably wouldn't be here today.
Regardless of how they ended up on the run for the last week, they are sweet as can be. Fortunately, they already have a committed foster, well actually two, a husband and wife team.
Rocky and Adrian will be moving to their foster home either Sunday night or Monday morning. Thanks to a member of the Low-cost Spay and Neuter Clinics of Indiana, these dogs will both be going to the vet almost immediately. In fact, this coming Friday. At that time, they will be altered, receive the rabies vaccine, distemper vaccine, heartworm tests, and heartworm prevention.
To top it all off, Adrienne is in heat. Had these dogs not been picked up, there would likely be another litter of unwanted puppies sitting in the shelters.
I would like to acknowledge all the wonderful people that have participated in this rescue, but I am not sure if they are all comfortable being publicly named. But suffice it to say that not a single one of us knew each other prior to the discovery of these dogs running loose in Adrian, Michigan. We pulled together as a team, we were able to trap these dogs, find a foster, get them bathed, and schedule their vetting, all in about 36 hours. That's pretty amazing for a group of strangers! Animal Control was called to pick up the dogs, but they weren't prepared to trap dogs in flight mode. The local humane society declined to take the dogs, said they had no room.
Please see the attached GoFundMe and if you can contribute anything to help these dogs, please do. These two dogs were not planned arrivals. It truly was an emergency, requiring many of us to pull together.
You may also contribute via Venmo, PayPal or Zelle, just ask. The tip can always be adjusted to zero, when donating through this fundraiser. The tip does not go to the rescue at all.
