Meet Rocko a.k.a. “No Knees”
He is an 11-year-old Corgi. When he latched onto my nose at 1 day old, I knew he was family—our first family dog! He's been the very best boy. Polite and sassy—if he was ever offended by you—he made sure you knew it but still nudged his toy over to you. We are grateful to have had all the laughs and adventures to the beach, rivers, forests—him tubing down the river and jumping from raft to raft is his favorite. ..his favorite day is Any day you throw the ball— you can never throw the ball enough times, ever. this next part is tough..
In the end of April, Rocko started having discharge from his nose and soon it was followed by blood coming out of both nostrils. I took him in to see his vet. That visit involved bloodwork, scans, over night stays and I was asked to bring back a sample of his poop. I did. Two days later, they ruled out parasites. At this point, a hard lump developed under both eyes—one side being far worse. I went back. It's a Friday—i get to take him home! But they suggest he come back next week to put him under for X-rays and possible dental surgery. The masses under his eye are now the size of a golf ball. Monday 8 a.m.—they put him under so they can properly see what is going on—they see it immediately, it is a very large tumor. They say there is nothing I can do—except give him the pain meds, Deramaxx (which also have “anti-tumor properties”) they prescribed for the next week and either put him down or let him live out his days.
It would be cruel and selfish of me to “let him live out his days”.
So with that, we are going to give him the very best last week. His favorite place was anywhere we were—and the beach.
Vet bills have wiped us out. If you would like to help us get him to his last party, his Beach Day will be May 9th/10th, 2026.
In honor of Rocko—throw the ball.
