Hi everyone, my name is Carolina, and I am writing to you today with a heavy heart to ask for help for my mother-in-law, Rocio. Recently, the town of Tijuana, Mexico, was hit by catastrophic underground flooding due to improper sewer infrastructure. In just a few hours, the home Rocio spent her life building was severely damaged—cracked floors, walls, and roof. Despite the devastation, the city has not provided structural repairs or relocation for the residents of her community.
We are endlessly grateful that Rocio is safe, but she has lost nearly everything else: her furniture, her clothes, her keepsakes, and the structural safety of the house she calls home. She and her husband are still living in the damaged house because they have no other option or money to relocate. Every night, they go to bed fearing the house could collapse on them.
We are raising funds to help Rocio navigate the long road to recovery. Every dollar raised will go directly to her. In Mexico, we have a saying: "Un granito de arena" (a grain of sand). No donation is too small. Even if you cannot donate, sharing this link with your network would mean the world to our family. Thank you for your prayers, your kindness, and for helping us bring Rocio’s home back to her.
