My name is Rochelle, and I’m reaching out for help with an urgent need. My 2007 Honda Civic, which I rely on every day, recently failed its smog inspection. The repairs are more than I can afford right now. At 70 years old, I’m living on social security and still working because I have to, not because I want to. This unexpected expense has put me in a difficult position, and I’m turning to my community for support.
Having my car repaired and passing the smog inspection would make a world of difference. Without my car, I’ve had to rely on expensive ride shares like Uber and Lyft, which quickly add up. Public transportation isn’t an option for me because I need to carry musical instruments, props, and equipment to my gigs. My car is essential for keeping all five of my jobs as a musician and master teaching artist, and it’s also crucial for maintaining my housing for at least the next two years.
My goal is to get back on the road and continue doing the work I love. I absolutely love teaching children how to sing, play instruments, and discover the joy and critical thinking skills that music brings. Any help you can give will be a blessing to me—and to you. For every milestone I reach, I will donate a free 45-minute arts in education program to a library in San Jose, Sunnyvale, or Palo Alto, CA. I am hoping to raise the funds by the end of April 2026, so your timely support would mean the world to me. Thank you so much for your support!
