On October 29, our lives took an unexpected turn. My mom was complaining of pain in her lower abdomen. Her pain became unbearable, prompting us to seek urgent care at AdventHealth Altamonte. After a CT scan, the results showed a large 6 by 7-inch tumor in her abdomen. Early Monday she was transferred to AdventHealth Orlando where they performed a biopsy of the mass. After anxiously waiting, my mom was diagnosed with stage 3 metastatic ovarian cancer. She starts her chemo as soon as an infusion chair is open (we’re hoping this will happen within the next few weeks). She will undergo six rounds of chemotherapy before they attempt to remove the existing tumor. According to her doctors, there is about an 80-90% success rate in shrinking the tumor, which will allow for removal.
She luckily has an amazing support system of friends and family but unfortunately, she will not be able to continue working at this time so our family will struggle significantly with the funds to keep up with medical treatments, medications, surgery, and any unforeseen expenses.
Any contribution will make a significant difference in my mom's fight against cancer. Your generosity will not only serve as financial relief but will also serve as a reminder that she is surrounded by a community that cares deeply for her. Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support during this time.
