Hey!

Our son Rocco is 4 years old. He has a life limiting condition called Spinal muscular atrophy Type 1. This condition affects all the muscles, meaning Rocco is unable to walk, eat, crawl etc. He is fed via a gastronomy and attached to his feeding pump most of the day. Rocco is unable to swallow and needs suctioning alot during the day. He also sleeps on a Bipap breathing ventilator.

He started on a drug trial at the age of 4 months old and has been making some very good progress. He is on a drug called Spinraza which is administered via a lumber puncture every 4 months.

He is able to sit independently and stand with support. Rocco is an active happy little boy and cognitively has nothing wrong with his brain so understands life as a 4 year old would. He has the most contagious personality and love for life.

He wants to enjoy life to the fullest and be involved with every aspect of school life and family life.

Rocco has 4 siblings who adore him and love to play him. At the moment he uses a manual wheelchair indoors and has whizzybug ( electric wheelchair) he has used at nursery since he was 2. However this is now too slow for him and he needs a faster chair to join in with family trips and everyday life.

He is also starting school in September so this new wheelchair will allow him to join in and play with the other children and to whizz along side them in the playground and classroom.

We have found a chair which is suitable and will last until he's 10! It's called a Tiny Trax and is very similar control wise to a whizzy bug which he is used to driving now.

We have paid the initial deposit on the chair and are asking for help towards the rest of the cost.

Rocco has asked us for the chair in electric blue !!
