Help Robyn Fight Glioblastoma
Donation protected
Our dear friend, Robyn, a beautiful and vibrant 43-year-old wife and mother of two young boys was recently diagnosed with a stage 4 Glioblastoma tumor (an aggressive, incurable cancer).
It all started this spring when Robyn began experiencing painful headaches. One day the pain was too much so she took a trip to the ER to seek help and answers. During this visit, Robyn and Steve were overwhelmed to learn that an MRI revealed a very large mass in the frontal lobe of her brain. She was immediately hospitalized and prepared for surgery. In total, Robyn underwent three brain surgeries to remove approximately 85% of the mass.
In the days after surgery, Robyn remained in critical care. She spent over 17 days between the ICU and step-down unit before being transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation unit for an additional 20 days. The left side of her body suffered greatly from the tumor removal process. Robyn has overcome many of the post operative challenges and has persistently fought to increase the strength on the left side of her body.
Since surgery, we've also learned that Glioblastoma is an aggressive and rare form of brain cancer. We are going to work with Robyn's oncology team to seek out all potential treatments for her cancer.
If you know Robyn, you know she is a fighter. She is determined and she is fiercely loved and supported. Robyn has a beautiful life and family to fight for and she is ready to go to battle but she cannot fight this war against cancer on her own. That is where you come in. More intensive cancer treatments will soon start and Robyn and her family will need your help now more than ever.
Steve, Robyn's devoted husband and Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) detective, has been fortunate to be by Robyn's side day and night since she was hospitalized. He has navigated the crisis not only in the hospital but at home as he maintained a sense of normalcy for their boys, one of which is in high school and the other who has special needs and is in elementary school.
Our goal is to raise funds to not only offset basic living expenses for their family, but also the complex medical care and bills, and much needed, critical time off for Steve to spend with Robyn. She was working as a paralegal up until her hospitalization and diagnosis. She has exhausted her leave time and Steve is quickly using his leave time as well. The hospital bills are rapidly stacking up from the initial 37 day hospitalization to include multiple brain surgeries, frequent MRI's and CT scans, intensive physical/occupational/speech therapies, and medical transports between facilities before her first discharge. This is the beginning of a long journey and they truly need your support as the road ahead will be unpredictable with many twists and turns.
Robyn and Steve have said many times that they are forever grateful for the support shown by family, friends, co-workers, and of course, the dedicated medical team guiding them along this journey to hope and healing.
Please consider making a donation and supporting Robyn and her family in this fight against Glioblastoma. If you can't donate, please consider sharing this story for her and others like her. We appreciate your kindness, prayers, support and generosity during this very difficult time. Visit this website to learn more about this disease.
