Help Robyn Berger Recover & Rebuild her Life

Donation protected
Please help our fellow Injector Maven, Robyn.  She is recovering from a major spinal fusion surgery currently.  We would like to ease some of her financial pain as she heals her body.  Hopefully soon she will bounce back to her dream career better than ever.

The years of working physically demanding jobs combined with hormone blocking meds and surgical removal of her ovaries at such a young age took a major toll on Robyn’s bones, and lumbar spine specifically. After several years of trying every minimally invasive option available, at 43 years old Robyn had to decide to undergo lumbar spinal fusion surgery, or go on permanent disability.

Robyn works as an independent contractor in Medical Aesthetics.  Additional to her $10,000 annual health insurance plan that she pays for herself, and the $8,000 out of pocket max (20% co-insurance) she’ll be responsible for, she will also receive no income during the 6-8 weeks necessary to take off of work to heal. When the time comes that Robyn can get back to work, her hours will be drastically shortened and work just 3 to 4 days a week, as she regains her strength. All time off is unpaid time off.

From the outside, Robyn always seems like a happy, positive, supportive person, who never loses her sense of humor. But if you take a moment to ask her, because she is an open book, it’s clear to see that Robyn has survived more than her share of financial and medical challenges.

When Robyn was in her late 20’s, she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. Freezing her eggs was never a conversation. It never occurred to her that after removing one ovary and being on oral Chemo, she could never have children of her own. At age 31 Robyn financially put herself through full-time Nursing school, while simultaneously working full-time as a hairstylist, Robyn was again diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. The emotional, physical, and financial repercussions of those events were devastating. But she survived it.

Robyn began working as a nurse, during cancer treatment, in major teaching hospitals specializing in Trauma, orthopedic surgery, and vascular surgery. But Robyn’s passion was in Medical Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery, where she could best blend her former career as a cosmetologist with her medical knowledge as a Nurse. Helping people to be comfortable in his or her own skin, “because we don’t have to look like what we’ve been through” has been her motto.

Robyn spends her life trying to help people feel whole, comfortable, and able to face the world confidently, no matter what they have been through. We have started this GoFundMe account to ease her burden. If you could please find it in your heart, we ask you humbly to help her.

All donations are greatly appreciated.  We appreciate if you can also share this.  Our community is strong because our love and compassion for one another is incredible.  Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
