Help Robin with Her Ongoing Medical Care

Three years of medical drama and trauma have left my sister-in-law Robin in considerable physical and financial distress. Unfortunately, those same medical problems necessitated early retirement last year due to severe mobility issues which render her unable to fully care for herself. Being of sound mind, this is terribly distressing to her. Robin's siblings have their own physical challenges, so they are unable to care for her at home. Full-time medical care is not cheap, hence this GoFundMe.

In February 2023, Robin was discovered to have a mass in her abdomen during an unrelated hospitalization. Later that year, the mass was diagnosed as a recurrence of endometrial cancer, thought to have been beaten 15 years before. The location of the mass made surgery and radiation impossible. So in August 2023, Robin embarked on a chemo-only treatment journey. The first dose of chemotherapy by IV left her with persistent neuropathy in her hands, ears, and legs above the knees. The dosage was scaled back, but the damage required that she use a wheelchair to get around. In November 2023, it was discovered that Robin's kidney function was being impaired by the chemo. Another adjustment was made.

In April 2024, the neuropathy in Robin's legs contributed to a fall in her own home, resulting in a broken left humerus and torn rotator cuff. Not a candidate for surgery, Robin was treated with a brace and physical therapy. Later, bone stimulation and an edema pump were deemed necessary. In nearly two years, her arm has made no real progress in healing. Since she relied on a wheelchair, having only one functional arm amplified her mobility issues.

In October 2025, Robin was sent to a rehab facility for therapy and care due to her leg weakness and edema. Since all her sick leave and annual leave had been used, and the length of her stay in rehab was uncertain, Robin decided that it was time to retire. This left her with inadequate insurance.

Her medical trials were not over. In December 2025, Robin was sent to the hospital to treat extremely low blood sugar due to a medication change. While there, she began treatment for gall bladder issues with the goal to remove it within the month. Unfortunately, additional symptoms emerged, preventing the surgery until late March 2026. In the aftermath of the surgery, Robin was left fighting nausea and the inability to eat much of anything for nearly a month.

As mentioned above, Robin is unable to care for herself in her own home, necessitating her residency in a medical facility. Any contribution made will help to pay what she already owes the facilities she's been in so far.
