Help Robin Recover & Rebuild After A House Fire

Donation protected
Earlier this week, my dad Robin Spangler lost his home of the past several years, as well as the majority of his belongings in a house fire.

Many of these items were irreplaceable, filled with memories, handcrafted treasures, and sentimentality. His computer and hard drive were destroyed, housing decades of digital photo files. Childhood and family memories were lost, along with almost everything he needs and uses on a day to day basis.

He was Lifeflighted to Idaho and admitted to the hospital for three days due to smoke inhalation and cardiac damage, sustained in his attempt to save his neighbors & home from the fire.

The fire started in the apartment across the hall from his, so he was one of the first to realize what was happening. Instead of running downstairs to safety, this straight up fucking hero grabbed the nearest fire extinguisher and rushed right into the burning apartment on the chance that he could put it out and avert this incredible disaster.

That is who he is. He didn't give it a second thought, he immediately took action to save and protect others. When he realized the fire was already too out of control, he made sure his neighbors were out of the building safely before exiting himself.

If you saw him that night, you know his hands and face were black with soot as he stood outside and watched his home go up in flames.

He does have a temporary place to stay for now, and he has been discharged from the hospital. His doctors expect him to make a full recovery physically, but there is a long road ahead of him as he searches for a new place to call home, and begins to pick up the pieces & start over again after this tragedy.

My dad has touched a lot of lives over the years, and is by nature a very humble and self-sufficient man. He is not one to ask for help very often, and has ALWAYS given freely and selflessly to his community and those around him, without a second thought.

Right now is when he needs the support of his community in turn. Every day, we are discovering things we did not realize or think about yet, that need to be taken care of or purchased anew to help him rebuild his life. I'm sure that list will grow even longer in the days and weeks to come.

We are grateful for all the support, the check ins, the kind words, and the offers of help in all forms that have been extended so far, it really has been heartwarming and comforting in a time where that was much needed.

If you are able to help, even just a little bit, please know that our family truly appreciates it and it means the world to us.
