Help Robin Rebuild After a Tragic Overnight Accident

On February 15 at about 2:15 a.m., Robin’s life was abruptly changed by a tragic accident at his home. While he and his wife were sleeping, a driver lost control, crashed through their fence, and struck multiple parked cars just outside their bedroom window. The driver sadly passed away at the scene, and Robin was the first to encounter the aftermath. This was a deeply traumatic experience for everyone involved. His heart goes out to the driver’s family and loved ones.

The crash completely destroyed two of Robin’s vehicles and damaged a third. One was the minivan Robin relies on to transport DJ equipment for work, and the other was a custom-built camper van that had just been sold, the sale had to be reversed, leaving Robin without the vehicle or the funds. Vanessa’s car remains drivable but was also damaged. Because Robin’s vehicles were parked and not in use during the winter, collision coverage had been removed. The at-fault driver carried only California’s minimum insurance, which will cover just a fraction of the losses. After insurance, Robin faces significant uncovered costs, and the process may take many months to resolve.

Robin wants to be transparent. He is not on the brink of homelessness and is grateful for stability in many areas of his life. Still, this loss is significant, unexpected, and not something insurance or existing systems are meaningfully helping with. He is also navigating the emotional aftermath of trauma while preparing for his wedding in early June. This should be a time that should be joyful and forward-looking. This fundraiser is meant to help bridge the gap left by insurance, replace Robin’s work vehicle, cover cleanup and debris removal, and ease the financial strain as he recovers from this overwhelming event.
