Help Robin Pay For Annie's In-home Care Supports
Hi everyone!
The past year has been a tough one for everyone, and it's been quite awful for Annie Zavacky.
In late May, she was admitted to the hospital with a respiratory infection that turned into pneumonia (Non-COVID, thank God!). She remained there until early August, when she was cleared to go to rehab. In October, she was finally cleared to go home. However, within a couple of days of returning home, Annie suffered a fall and sustained a head injury. Thankfully, that was minor, and after a bit more precautions, she returned home. A few days after that, she had a mishap during her dialysis treatments that led to hospitalization and that caused some heart issues due to electrolyte imbalance. This required a pacemaker surgery, which was minor and was successful. She is now set to come home within the next week or so.
After her most recent fall, which has been her third since her stroke, it has become more obvious to us that Annie will require in-home care support upon being released from the hospital -- at least for the first month or so while she is finishing her physical therapy and while she adjusts to her new way of life. Medicare/MediCal only cover so much, and don't offer services for the types of support she is requesting (she needs help bathing, cooking, getting up/down, etc.).
Her daughter, Robin (my wife) has found some support services to assist with this. Seeing as Robin has been under immense emotional and financial turmoil over the past year, and seeing as it is her birthday this next week, I figured that I would organize a GoFundMe to help her pay these support costs.
In our minds, the greatest gift that Robin can get this year is some peace of mind, and we feel that easing the financial burden on us a bit as we navigate how to best support her mother would help provide this.
Annie's services are contracted at a rate of roughly $32/hr. For the duration that she would require this (at least the first month of services at 8 hr/week), we would need to pay $1000 out of our own pockets to pay this cost.
Whatever anyone can offer to help us breathe a bit easier during this holiday season would be greatly appreciated!
Stay safe, and we love and appreciate you all!
