Hi, my name is Mary and I am creating a fundraiser for Robin Skeates at the request of her family. Robin was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in 2022 at the age of 15. Because of my own husband’s battle with osteosarcoma there was something about Robins story that clicked with me and I got to know the family ,specifically her mother very early on after her diagnosis and I have followed her fight over the past year and a half with this dreadful and vicious cancer. Robin has reached a point where she needs more help than ever to be able to continue this fight. Please take the time to watch the video update, and if you have anything you can do to help us you can donate. No dollar amount is too small.
if you’re unable to donate financially, we also are requesting as much prayer as possible because I know through God anything as possible!
God bless you all.
please watch this video from Robin giving you an update and summary about her journey…
A message from Robin’s family is below..
Hello all ,
We are urgently reaching out to the public.
Robin 17 years old , since being diagnosed in May 2022 having to relocate 4 hours from her home for treatment, She has bravely and courageously endured the grueling golden standard treatment protocols for Osteosarcoma.
Robin had her first chemo infusion for her 16th birthday while undergoing chemotheraphy , her cancer metastasized to her lungs she has undergone limb sparing surgery , a metastasectomy on each lung , and 15 minutes a day of radiation for 20 days.
Unfortunately Robins CT scan on the 19th of October 2023 has revealed multiple new lesions larger ones as well. Sadly Robin’s genetic make up of cancer cells is highly resistant to treatment.
Her last hope is the drug called Strivarga which comes with a hefty price tag of R56 000 per month. We have reached out to the manufacturer of this drug to no avail they declined to assist as well as numerous cancer organizations.
We are now left with depending on the kindness and support of the public. Please help us share and raise the funds for this drug to extend Robins life to enjoy and do some things that she has not had the chance to, after spending a year and a half in hospital for treatments that have not worked.
Lets give her that little bit of extra time to enjoy life and her family that she so deserves.
It is dire we get Robin on Strivarga as soon as possible.
We thank you with our whole hearts
The Skeates family
