Help Robin Battle the Enemy

Robin has been through many wars and was victorious. Now she has to fight again. In 1990 she was first diagnosed with leukemia, fought it and won with some battle scars. The chemotherapy crossed the blood-brain barrier. It left her with cerebella toxicity affecting her motor skills. She became permanently disabled and had to leave her job as a special education teacher.

In 2018 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent radiation treatment which helped her beat the enemy. After undergoing chemotherapy and radiation in her past it actually caused another type of leukemia to develop. It’s called T-Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Robin is in yet another battle.

After going for routine blood work testing to prepare for a minor procedure, her oncologist requested a repeat test. It was discovered something wasn’t right. Robin had been feeling a bit more tired than usual, but thought it was from staying home too much due to the covid situation. Her life is now consumed with medical, financial, and insurance matters. Her energy and vitality have been greatly affected as time goes by.

Robin has started her first course of chemotherapy in Gainesville, Florida, which has a special cancer unit specifically for leukemia. She wanted to go there to be treated by experts instead of the local hospitals in her area. It’s a two hour drive each way, but she feels it’s worth the time. She will continue with chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and platelets mostly locally. Ultimately, she’ll receive a bone marrow transplant where she’ll be in the hospital for a month back in Gainesville.
