A Father’s Fight After a Year of Medical Nightmares
My name is Robert Kreischer, and I’m writing this because I’m not ready to stop being the active father my two sons deserve.
For the past 18 months, my life has been a blur of hospital rooms, failed surgeries, and medical oversight. What started as a leg injury in late 2024 turned into a cascading nightmare. After multiple ER visits where my concerns were dismissed—including one instance where I was sent home with a broken internal rod and told to walk on it—I developed a severe, entrenched bone infection.
I fought through a hemisoleus muscle flap and a skin graft to save my leg, but after a 60% graft failure and months of immobility, my medical team and I have had to make the hardest decision of my life: to proceed with a below-the-knee amputation.
Why I’m Asking for Help
As a contractor, my livelihood depends on my physical strength. But more importantly, my life as a father depends on it. I have a 3-year-old son and a 15-year-old stepdaughter who have watched me suffer for over a year. My girlfriend lost her job to become my full-time nurse, and the financial strain on our family has been devastating.
I am not asking for a handout to sit still. I am asking for the chance to move.
Standard prosthetics are designed for basic walking, but I want to be the dad who can chase his kids in the yard and return to my contracting business. A high-activity "running" prosthetic is what I need to truly get my life back, but they are incredibly expensive. The total cost is $15,000, and I am fighting to raise at least half of that to get started.
Your Impact
Every dollar donated goes directly toward my prosthetic fund and helping my family regain stability after a year of zero income.
$25 helps with the immediate medical supplies I need post-amputation.
$100 brings me one step closer to the "running blade" that will let me play with my boys.
Sharing this link helps tell my story to people I might never reach.
I’ve spent my life building things for others as a contractor. Now, I’m trying to rebuild my own life. I promise that once I am back on my feet—literally and financially—I will pay this kindness forward.
Thank you for seeing my family’s struggle and for helping me stay in the race.
