Help Roberto's new owner with unexpected expenses
Donation protected
A few weeks ago I set up a campaign to save a stray cat who had adopted me in Cartagena, Colombia. Thanks to many generous contributions, I was able to find Roberto a good home with a nice young lady who has been taking good care of her (I named the cat Roberto before I realized she was a girl). Shortly after her new owner (whom I'll call NB) took Roberto in, Roberto needed some medical care because she swallowed a tooth, as well as some other routine care. Additionally, NB had to move to a different apartment because her landlord wouldn't let her have a cat. Long story short, the $719 raised through the previous campaign has been spent.
Additionally, NB lost her job and has been having trouble finding another one. She was in school to become a flight attendant, but had to drop out because she couldn't afford it. On top of all that, Roberto got out a few days ago and managed to slice her paw pretty badly on some razor wire. NB had to bring Roberto to the vet for stitches, which cost about $250. Making matters worse, NB's grandmother, who takes care of NB's 6-year-old daughter, just died, so now NB has no one to watch her daughter while she works.
As you can imagine, NB is about at her wits' end. She took Roberto in as a favor to me, but she is going to have trouble making her rent this month, much less pay for Roberto's ongoing expenses. If you are in a position to give $20 or $50, it would make a huge difference in NB's (and Roberto's) life. Minimum wage in Colombia is a little over a dollar an hour, so you can imagine how hard it is for her to pay a $250 vet bill. I've sent her enough money to cover her immediate expenses, but I'm not really in a position to help much more myself. I would greatly appreciate any help you can give.
