On a day that started like any other, my cousin Robert Vasquez's life was turned upside down. An explosion in the apartment next door destroyed his home, leaving Robert and his mother with nothing but the clothes on their backs. In an instant, they lost their belongings, their sense of safety, Their apartment is now in ruins, and they have nowhere to return to.
When Robert called me, he was in tears. He and his mother are now homeless, trying to piece together the next step and the life they once knew. This tragedy is especially hard as it happened during the holidays—a time that should be filled with warmth and togetherness. Instead, they are facing unimaginable challenges, from finding emergency housing to replacing basic essentials, all while coping with the trauma of what happened.
I’m starting this GoFundMe to help Robert and his mother rebuild from nothing. Any amount will help them with emergency housing, clothing, essentials, deposits for a new home, and basic living expenses while they recover. Robert is a kind, hardworking person who would do anything for others, and now he truly needs support. If you can donate, share, or send a prayer, it would mean the world to him and our family. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for helping Robert and his mom during this heartbreaking time.
