Help Robert Recover from a Horrible Random Stabbing
Donation protected
34-year-old Robert Sanders flew to Eugene, Oregon on March 31, to visit his grandmother Mariah, who has dementia and is in a memory care facility. After spending time visiting with her, with her not remembering who he is, Robert wanted to be near trees and nature to clear his mind. On the evening of April 2nd, he drove to the top of Skinner Butte, a popular park in the heart of Eugene. He was taking photos of the sunset when he overheard someone talking about violence, he asked if they could stop and keep it peaceful and they responded no, to which Robert was approached and then stabbed twice. He suffered life-threatening wounds, a collapsed left lung with pulmonary confusion and a right flank stab with extravation and retroperitoneal hematoma.
Robert is a well-loved and talented tattoo artist, self-employed in Jacksonville, Florida, where he lives with his partner Stephanie and three loving pit bulls. He grew up in Eugene and was raised by his devoted grandmother, Mariah.
He expected to return home on April 5th, but his time in Eugene needs to be extended due to his injuries. Among other things, he suffered a collapsed lung, which makes him unable to fly for quite some time his right wound is deep into his muscle which will stop working for some time.
Robert doesn't have health insurance, and is also unable to work since he can't return home yet. The man who stabbed him is in police custody, charged assault in the first degree Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Use Weapon, and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree (case 25-05252). He was also charged with Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree for the incident in the hallway.. Robert is needed to testify in the upcoming grand jury hearing to make sure this evil person gets locked away for a long time.
Robert feels he has a guardian angel - a man who calls himself “Bones.” This incredible hero stepped in as Robert was being attacked, chased off the offender, gave Robert emergency first aid, got police and medical attention quickly, and then visited Robert in the hospital. We are eternally grateful to Bones, and to everyone else who is sending prayers, love and support to Robert as he recovers. Any donation is incredibly appreciated. Thank you!
