My name is Robert, and asking for help is not something that comes easily to me. I served in the United States Navy when I was 18, and my life changed forever after the USS Stark tragedy in the Persian Gulf. I left the Navy with an 'other than honorable' discharge, which meant I couldn’t turn to them for support. Still, I built a good life for myself, working in technology and banking, and was married for 22 years.
About eight years ago, everything changed again. I became seriously ill and was bedridden for two years, fighting for my life. Eventually, I lost my legs to illness. Not long after, my marriage ended, and I found myself homeless, struggling to survive on the streets in a wheelchair. Despite these challenges, I managed to get an apartment and have been doing my best to rebuild, but it’s been incredibly hard.
Right now, I am facing urgent needs. My medical bills are piling up, and I need reliable transportation to make it to my doctor’s appointments. All four of my prosthetic legs have been stolen, and I don’t have insurance to replace them. I also need a wheelchair and help with some medical expenses. I’ve been working hard to get back on my feet, and with a little help, I believe I can regain my independence and contribute to society again.
I am deeply grateful for any support you can offer. Your kindness would mean the world to me and truly change my life. I’ve become estranged from my family, so your support would feel like family to me. Thank you for blessing me with your help and giving me hope to move forward.
