My name is Robert, and I’m reaching out because my apartment burned down just a few days ago, on Christmas. It’s been a devastating experience, especially during what should have been a joyful time of year. I lost not only my home, but also many of the things I rely on every day. While insurance is helping with some of the basics, there are so many essentials—especially technology and personal items—that aren’t covered.
The past few days have been overwhelming as I try to figure out my next steps. I’m working hard to rebuild my life, but the costs of replacing things like my computer, phone, and other household items are adding up quickly. These are things I need for work, staying connected with loved ones, and getting back to a sense of normalcy. It’s difficult to ask for help, but my friends encouraged me to share my story and reach out to the community.
