My Name is Gloria, and I'm starting this page on behalf of my family for my brother Robert Perez.

This is the story of my 39 year old brother, Robert Perez, who is fighting for his life. Robert urgently needs a liver transplant after being diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the liver caused by Hepatitis C - a disease he contracted as a newborn through multiple blood transfusions to survive. Tragically, those transfusions unknowingly carried the hepatitis C virus. His twin brother was diagnosed first back in 2006 and underwent a liver transplant - but the hepatitis C just took over his new liver, leading to his passing. Losing his twin was heartbreaking for our family and now Robert is facing the same terrifying battle. Doctors have told us that Roberts liver is failing fast, and time is running out, He has been in and out of the hospital, undergoing several test to make sure he is healthy enough to have a transplant, fighting fatigue, pain, and undergoing other procedures due to his other organs being affected, while dealing with the complications of end-stage liver disease and despite everything, Robert is a loving person who has changed his life in so many ways and he continues to hold on with courage, faith and hope. Robert is in need of help, The cost of the transplant, hospital stays, medications and recovery care is overwhelming the family as he is still waiting to hear from disability. Insurance does not cover everything required to keep him alive and he does not qualify for Medicaid.

We've started this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden and allow Robert and the family to focus on fighting for his life.
