My husband Robert and I have been having a rough year. Earlier this year he was very ill and was hospitalized for over a week with spinal meningitis, while running tests they found kidney cancer. He was unable to work for a few months. Disability and unemployment never paid him. He went back to work early against doctors orders so we could afford to live. Last week he had his surgery to remove the cancer from his kidney. Everything was going well while he was recovering at home until he started feeling an immense amount of pain that didn’t feel right. I took him to the ER. He was airlifted back to the Stanford hospital yesterday. He is currently in the hospital for post surgical complications. He was told he cannot work for 6-8 weeks after surgery, but now it may be longer. The doctor set up temporary disability, but we cannot seem to get through to their office to finish the process. He is still waiting to be paid by unemployment and disability from the beginning of this year during his hospitalization and recovery as well. He likely won’t see the money for months, if at all. Bills are starting to pile up. Both of our vehicle payments are past due. Credit card payments are past due. We used our savings and credit cards at the beginning of the year to keep afloat. I am working, trying my best to keep up with everything while trying to take care of Robert. I created this fundraiser to help us get by at least until he receives his back pay or current pay from unemployment/disability. He is a hard working man and as soon as he’s able, he will be back at it but for now he has to heal. Any help is appreciated.
