My name is Robert, and I’m a first-generation business owner, proud father of six, and a passionate Hibachi Chef in the Carolinas. For the past three years, I’ve poured my heart into running a food truck, sharing my love for cooking with my community and building a loyal following. Now, I’ve been given the opportunity to take the next big step—opening my very first restaurant.
This dream is within reach, but I’m still short of the funds needed to cover rent, supplies, and to hire staff. Two of my children, both in high school, have recently received their workers permits, and I want to show them firsthand what it takes to run a successful business. My goal is to hire local teens, offer mentorship to young aspiring chefs, and hold quarterly workshops on how to start a restaurant or operate a food truck. I know that while some knowledge can be found in books, many don’t know where to begin, and I want to be the person who helps them start their journey.
For years, I was told I’d never get the support I needed unless I left the city I was born and raised in. While support from family and friends was limited, I’ve gained incredible encouragement from people who discovered my food on social media and became regular customers. With this growing support, I believe Winston-Salem is ready to help me open a restaurant that will shine a positive spotlight on our city. Your contribution will not only help me achieve my dream but also create opportunities for young people and bring our community together. Thank you for believing in me and for helping make this vision a reality.
