My name is Robert, and I live in a mobile home with my mom, who is my full-time caregiver. For nine years, my stepdad was my caregiver, but he became abusive towards me and eventually left, leaving my mom completely alone. Since then, we have had no support from family, and my mom has had to take care of me around the clock. I suffer from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which means I rely on a 400-pound power chair and need constant care. We do have caregivers who come in for seven hours twice a week, but due to state restrictions, we can't request more hours. My mom is 60 years old and does everything she can to keep us going, but it's a daily struggle. Our mobile home is in urgent need of repairs. The roof leaks during storms, but I can't expect my mom to get on the roof alone to fix it. We're also in debt and just trying to survive day by day. The stress and worry are overwhelming, and we are doing our best to stay afloat. The funds raised will go towards fixing the roof of our home, paying off debt, and catching up on bills. This will help us stay safe and secure, and relieve some of the daily stress we face. Any donation will help us, God willing. We are grateful for any support and hope that our community can help us through this difficult time.
