Help Robert fight the biggest Fire of his life!
Doação protegida
Hello, This is Robert "Bob" "Bobby" "Rob" Delgado. Robert is a 33 year old, son, brother, Navy veteran, firefighter and friend to everyone he meets. From April 2023 to December 2023 Robert was in a literal fight for his life.

On April 5, 2023 he started to have a stomach ache that would not go away. After about 2 weeks of suffering and just before he was set to start back with Cal-Fire, he took his first trip to the ER. Robert was 3 weeks away from being hired back with Cal-Fire so he did not have health insurance. He was trying to get better before starting work. After a CT Scan, the ER doctor mis-diagnosed him with Bacterial Colitis and gave him an antibiotic for 10 days. Hoping we had the answer and the solution, we went home. Robert only got worse and we were forced to go back to the ER. Robert visited the ER several more times in an effort to get diagnosed correctly to regain his health and strength. He had lost 60 lbs in 5 months and weighed the same as his 13 year old brother. Doctors were pretty confident that he had Ulcerative Colitis but we needed them to perform a colonoscopy to be sure. The procedure was expensive and we couldn't get anyone to agree to help and now the medical bills were starting to pile up. On May 11, 2023, Robert was really struggling to survive and a 4th trip the ER finally resulted in a hospital stay, colonoscopy, confirmation of Ulcerative Colitis, and a treatment plan. As of 6/1/2023, Robert obtained health insurance, however, the medical bills from April and May 2023 were significant. We were informed of an emergency Medi-Cal program that might retroactively pay for the medical bills incurred during April and May, however, he was denied for making more than $1,677 a month. Once he had the diagnosis, he had hope for an end to this, however, his UC was "treatment resistant" and nothing they tried made a difference. He was hospitalized 4 times and went to the ER 7 times to no avail.

In the end, Robert had surgery to remove his colon in December 2023. He is scheduled for 2 more surgeries and can hopefully start rebuilding his life. Please help Robert get out from under a stack of mounting medical bills. Thank you all for your consideration!
