Hello, my name is Robert Darnell. Currently, I am a resident of Winchester, Virginia.
I am being evicted unjustly by my landlord from the home I live in. My landlord, who we will call Mr. Smith for privacy reasons, has decided to terminate my lease as of August 24th because I had the audacity to politely complain to him that another tenant, who we will call Mr. Clint, was violating the terms of the lease by smoking in the house. Mr. Clint had been warned in the past to not smoke in the house and has had several other tenants complain about him as well. However, after I told Mr. Smith about the violation, which I made in good faith because the smell of it was nauseating, I was informed that I was "disturbing the peacefulness of the house by starting issues with the tenants," and that they were going to be terminating my lease on September 23rd.
I am unable to move out on my own accord due to a disability caused by a workplace accident I sustained on June 16th, which has kept me from working ever since while I fight for workers' compensation. I have no money to afford to find a new apartment on such short notice and don't have any income coming in to afford it either. I am barely scraping by as is. I am also unable to afford a defense attorney to fight the eviction itself. I would have stayed with friends or family, but family won't help, and my friends who could give me a place to stay are on the other side of the country.
I am asking for help to find a new apartment to rent so I can stay off the streets.
