Help Robert and Debbie Move to an Accessible Home

Donation protected
I’m trying to assist a couple of friends who genuinely need help. Robert is a former Marine who dedicated 40 years of service to the police force. His wife Debbie, a former nurse, who went above and beyond to care for her patients.

Robert and Debbie have big hearts and have opened their doors to many over the years.
They’ve hosted several foreign high school exchange students, allowing them to attend school in the US for a year. They’ve also provided a loving home to a local teenager in need for several years, and she remains an integral part of their family to this day.
Years later, in their 50s, they adopted a six-month-old baby boy whose biological family couldn’t care for him.

As they age, their health is declining, and they’re now the ones in need of help. They need to move from an old, non-handicap accessible rental property to a new, accessible one.
Robert has been bed-bound for almost two years after battling MRSA following a knee replacement. He then suffered a stage 3 kidney injury, and one month later, he sustained a spinal cord injury. After a second MRSA infection, he was unable to bend his leg for over a year. He’s now using a walker, but it won’t fit through the bathroom or bedroom doors of their house.

Debbie has been his sole caregiver, often neglecting her own health concerns to care for him instead. She almost died herself from a battle with COVID-19 in 2021 as well as experiencing complications from a nasal surgery. Her intellectually challenged sister lived with Debbie and Robert, but she passed away nine days after being diagnosed with gallbladder cancer in 2022. The loss devastated the family, and Debbie struggles to come to terms with the death of her sister.

These are kind, caring, and generous people who are always there for others. They give when they don’t have to. They need $5,000 for the first month’s rent and deposit. Any help to assist would be greatly appreciated!
