Recently, our lives changed in an instant when Robbie sustained a cervical spinal cord contusion, resulting in near-full body paralysis. After undergoing an emergency discectomy and fusion surgery, Robbie has shown us all the true meaning of "Beaver Strong."
Small Wins, Big Milestones
In the short time since his injury, Robbie has been fighting every single day. We have been moved to tears by his progress in the ICU:
- Increased Sensation: He is gaining light touch sensation in his arms and deep pressure sensation in his legs.
- Regaining Movement: He is working tirelessly in physical therapy to control movement in his left arm.
- Standing Tall: With the help of a specialized air bed, Robbie has been able to stand for over an hour—a huge milestone that shows his determination to get back on his feet.
The Next Big Step: Craig Hospital
Robbie has been given a life-changing opportunity: he has been accepted into Craig Hospital in Denver, one of the top rehabilitation facilities in the world for spinal cord injuries. He is scheduled to fly out this Wednesday to begin a rigorous 75- to 90-day inpatient program.
